SEO for your Landscape photography website

Getting your website noticed outside of your local network can be very challenging if you don't know anything about websites or SEO. Yet, even if you have developed a website or two, it is still very challenging to get noticed in search engines like Google, Yahoo,or Bing. There are many avenues that you can go down in order to have your photography website drive in more traffic. SEO - (Search Engine Optimization) is the most important aspect of whether clients can find your website on search engines or not. It doesn't matter how pretty your website is, because if your website isn't optimized so that search engines can read it cleanly and effectively you will be lost way down on the search engines.

Here are a couple tips that can get your photographic website to rank higher in search engines:

    • The Meta Title of your webpage must correspond to the content that's actually on that page! So if you are trying to optimize your website for wedding photography in your local area, you must have a Meta Title that reads something like:
    • Wedding Photography Denver | Denver Wedding Photographers
    • Also, the words that you are using in your title, must be place in order of importance.
    • Second, Google doesn't read Meta Keywords anymore... This doesn't mean that placing keywords in the content / text of your site is not important, but just the Meta Keywords are irrevelent... Mainly due to people stuffing that section will TONS of irrevelent keywords.
    • Third, is that each one of your Meta Descriptions must describe what is actually on that specific page. Keep it short and simple.
    • Place the most important keywords of a specific page in a <h1> tag to give it more importance. For instance, if we're still talking about the wedding photography company... I would put "Wedding Photography Denver" in a <h1> tag at the top of the page, followed up with some content that actually describes wedding photography in Denver.

What Not to do with SEO - Search Engine Optimization:

    • Do not make all Meta tags the same across your entire site. Each page must have a specific meta title, description and content!
    • Do not stuff keywords near the bottom of your page. For instance, do not put a list of cities, zip codes, area codes, services offered etc. at the bottom. Google and other search engines really don't like this and it could lead to your site being banned.
    • Do NOT PUT hidden links on your site or rotating links. Again, search engines will ban your site.
